I bought this for use on an 8" LX200 which doesn't have a Zero Shift focuser. Basically, you get the picture roughly focused using a bright star and then, you can use this to get a much more precise focus. Works well when you get the hang of it. Since it's 2", you have to have the proper equipment to utilize a 2" eyepiece but, once you have that and a T-ring for your camera, things work pretty well. Once you have a good focus on the star, lock down the focus screws and move to your intended target. One thing to note, since this adapter is plastic and, most of the telescope components are metal, using this when the outdoor temperature is very low is nearly impossible since metal contracts and a 2" OD piece of plastic won't fit in a 2" ID metal hole anymore - discovered this when trying to use the telescope at -20F this winter.
