This is truly a masterful collection of works by Holst, Vaughan Williams, and Sibelius! I would not have guessed that a Vaughan Williams symphony (no. 4) would go well with The Planets (the major piece featured in this 2 CD package), but it does, and very well. Also included is one of Sibelius most interesting symphonic poems, the Oceanides, a work similar again to the compositions of Holst. "The Planets" themselves are played almost thrice in their entirety, with the other two works pacing matters. I have frankly not enjoyed Holst, or the other works, as much as I have enjoyed them on this CD. The sound and the musicianship are all fine. This two disc set is just superb, and rather fun, interesting, being different.
